Essential amino acids are not synthesized in the body in contrast to the non essential amino acids, so they must be taken exogenosusly. The preparation of amino acids available differ slightly based upon the proportion of various amino acids.

INDICATIONS : For intravenous infusion : Total parenteral nutrition when the patient cannot take food/nutrition orally; Malabsorption; impaired digestion and assimilation is various gastric disorders like ulcerative colitis, regional enteritis, necrotizing enterocolitis & other malignant disorders severe protein deficiency or increased protein demand as in burns, severe trauma, fractures etc.

For oral administration: Pre and post operative, Hypoproteinaemia, Prolonged illness, elderly patients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS : Liver dysfunction, risk of cardiac decompensation due to fluid overload.

SAFETY PROFILE : Injection should be given slowly, otherwise, can cause nausea and vomiting.
