Pyritinol
It is nootropic agents, vasoactive cerebral protec¬tor. It enhances cholinergic transmission and improves cerebral microcirculation in ischemic regions. It protects the neurones against hypoxia, disturbance of glucose metabolism.
INDICATIONS: Cerebrovascular accidents, organic brain syndrome, intellectual, encephalitis, alcohol withdrawal state, disturbed cerebral development in children and adolescents, sequelae of head injuries, post-anaesthetic recovery.
CONTRAINDICATIONS : Rheumatoid arthritis, hypersensitivity.
SAFETY PROFILE : Concomitant administration of D-penicillamine, gold preparation or levamisole.
ADVERSE EFFECTS: Epigastric distress, anorexia, sleep disturbances, increased excitability, tiredness, skin rashes, mucus membrane, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, headache, pruritus, restlessness.
DRUG INTERACTIONS : None Known.
DOSAGE: Adults : 100-200mg thrice daily. Children : 1—200mg daily, according to age (in 2-3 divided doses) continue therapy for several weeks, Infants : 2.5-5ml times daily.
