Atorvastatin with Ezetimibe

Ezetimibe with atorvastatin improves LDL-C, HDL triglycerides, cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol:HDL-C, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) This combination provides a significant additional 12% LDL-C reduction, 8% triglyceride reduction, 3% HDL-C increase, and 10% hs-CRP reduction versus atorvastatin alone. Atorvastatin With Ezetimibe reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol more than either alone. Combined with atorvastatin (low dose), ezetimibe achieves reductions similar to those seen with atorvastatin alone in LDL cholesterol.

There is no proven fact that atorvastatin reduces mortality or cardiovascular morbidit. Combining ezetimibe with atorvastatin can be a good alternative for patients already on high-dose atorvastatin. Ezetimibe is a newer drug. It prevents intestinal absorption of cholesterol..
