TAMOXIFEN CITRATE:It is a nosteroidat ant estrogen, acts by binding to & decreasing the availability of estrogen receptors. Only those tumors which have estrogen receptors respond. Response rate is higher among post menopausal when it is effective orally & has a long duration of action.
Indications:Palliative treatment of advanced or metastasis carcinoma breast.
Dosage:10-20 mg twice daily.
Contra-indications:Pregnancy, hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions:It may be combined with oophorectomy.
Pediatrics: Not recommended.
Pregnancy: should no be used.
Lactation: use with caution
Elderly: Use with caution
Side effects:Hot flashes, vomiting, vaginal bleeding, menstrual irregularities, pruritus vulvae, thrombocytopenia, visual disturbances.
Drug Interactions:Effect of wartarin considerably enhanced with fatal results, bromocripitne increases the serum tixifrn levels.
