ORMELOXIFIENE:It belongs to the new category of agents ca;; Ed as Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators. It has a weak estrogenic and a potent anti-estrogenic profile. It is expected to exert a contraceptive effect and normalize the bleeding form uterine cavity by regularizing the depression of estrogen receptors on the endometrial. It precentsproliferation of endometrial and dose not affect the certification of virginal and cervical epithelium. Both of these processes are estrogen dependent.
Indications: Dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
Dosage:120mg twice a week every Sunday/Wednesday for the first 12 weeks and then 60mg on following Sunday/Wednesday for 12 weeks.
Contraindications:Jaundice or several hepatic dysfunctions, polycystic ovarian disease, chronic cervicitis or cervical hyperplasia history of hypersensitivity to drug. Chronic illness like tuberculosis renal disease, nursing mothers in the first 6 months of the postnatal periods
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting, headache and in some cases weight gain.
Special Precautions: Bi-weekly and weekly dosage schedules have to be observed irrespective of menstrual periods, Ormeloxifenes has contraceptive properties, prolongation of menstrual cycle may be observed in some users.
