Levofloxacin

Levofloxacin is used to treat different types of bacterial infections. It stops the growth of bacteria. But is not effective in viral infection. If a person uses antibiotic, excessively, it may lead to the ineffectiveness of Levofloxacin in his body. Levofloxacin is included in the drug category called quinolone antibiotics.

Levofloxacin is given by vein (IV) over at least 60 minutes. It's commonly used once a day. It is very effective in the treatment of the infections like pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and sinus, skin infections, urinary tract, prostate (a male reproductive gland), kidney, etc. The use of Levofloxacin may also lead to some side effects like diarrhea, Nausea, vomiting, pain/redness, trouble sleeping, change in taste, headache etc.

LEVOFLOXACIN : Levofloxacian is a synthetic antibacterial agent of the fluroqulinolone class and is the s (-) ennathtimoer of the recemic drug substance ofloxacin.

Indications: Acute sinsusitis, Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. Community-acquired pneumonia, Complicated urinary tract infections including pyetonephritis, skin and soft tissue infection.

Dosage and administration: Once or twice daily maximum duration of treatment of 14 days.

Contra-indications : Hypersensitivity Epliepsy, history of tenod disorders, In children of growing adolescents.

Special warnings and Precautions : Clostridium diffclie-associated diseases, Tendinitis, Patients Pre-disposed to seizures, Patients with renal impaiment prevention. of photosensitisation

Drug-interactions: lron salts, magnesium or aluminium-containig antacids sucralfate, Theohyline, fenebufen or similar non-steroidal anti-Infalmmatroy drugs.
