SPARFLOXACIN: It is aminofluroguinodine and exerts its anntibacterial activity via the inhibition of DNA replication of bacteria bu inhibiting DNA gyrase activity. Its avsorption begins soon after oral administrations. The distribution of sparfloxacin in nasal mucosa and sinus mucosa is primanily high it is metabolised by the liver to an inacitive anylgucuronide conjugate. The terminal plasma elimination half-life is about 20hrs. Elimination of sparfloxacin is complete.
Indications : Pneumonia, acute exverbation chronic bronihitis lower respratory tract infections acute sinusitis, gonococcal and non-gonococcal urethritis in males
Dosage: Lower respriatory tract infecations : 400mg as single dose on the first day follwed by 200mg each dya for 10 days. Acute bacteial sinusitis : 400 as a single dose on lthe first followed by 200mg each day for an average of 4 days. STD in males : Gonococcal urethritis : 200 mg as single dose on the first followed by 100 mg/day for 4 days
Contraindications: Qulnolo0ne hypersensitivity
