CEPHALEXIN: It is bactericidal which is active against a wide range of Gram-Positive and Gramnegative organisms
Indications: Respiratory tract infections. E.N.T Urinary trat, Gynaecological and obstertric infections, Gonorrhoea (When Penicillin is unsuitable).
Dosage: Adults: 1-4 gm daily in equally divided dose 6 hrly.
Children : 5-15 yrs 25-50 mg/kg body wt. daily divided doses.
Contra-indication: Hypersensitivity to vephalo sporins.
Special Precautions: It is well toleratd by patient allertic to penicillin, but cross-reactions have beer encountered rarely.
Pediatrics: Safe
Pregnancy: Use with caution during early months
Lactation: The drug passes into breast milk
Elderly: Renal impairment may occur
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting diarrhea, Roversible neutropenia. Drug rashes.
Drug Interactions: Concurrent treatment with aminoglycosides ro potent diuretics (Frusemid ethacrynic acid and pretanide) may adversely altect renal function.
