LYOPHILIZED drug is stable for atleast 23 yars when stored at room temperature (25oC). After reconstitution, the solution should be stred in a refrigerator and used withing 69 hours. It stored at room temperature then within 24 hors.
Indication : Respriatory tract infection, post operative chest infections, empyema and lung abscess, Urinary tract fections (pyleonephritis).otitis media and mastoiditis, pertonitis and wound infection septicameia, whether gram-opsitive or gram-nagative Endocarditis, hynaecological and ostertrical infection )spetic abortion, uterine and neonatal infection, plevic abscess). Gonorrhoea or syphilis. Bone and jont jnfections (steomylitis and septic arthritis). Especially useful in biliary tract infection
Dosage: Adults: 500-1gm i.m. or i.v. 6-8 hourlu
Chlidren : abelow 1month not comended; others 25-50 mg/kg body we daily in 3-4 divided dose by either i.m. or i.v.
Contra -indications: Patilents iwth know allergy to cepghalosproin group. Pseudomembranous colltis. Use in permature and infats under 1 minths of age has not been established.
Special Precautions: Hypersensitivity to penicillins, impaired renal function.
Paediatrics ; Safety in infants in less than 1 months not established.
Pregnancy: Safe
Lactation: Use with caution.
Elderly: safe
Side effects: G.I.T upsets allergic reactions, depressed heamatopiesis, transient rese of SGPT,BUN,SGOT, Perineal pruritus, candidosis, convulasiions, eosinophilia, thrombocythemia.
Drug Interactions: Concurrent use of caphazoline and frusemide increase risk of nephrotoxicity. Potentiates neprrotoxicity produced by aminoglycosides Prothromibin time rologed by cephazoline and caution cecessary if use with anticoagulants. Probenecid blocks tubular secretion of cephazolin thereby prolonging half-life.
