SPECTINOMYCIN: It is a bactenriostatic drug structurally different form aminoglycosides.
Indications: Treatment of gonorrhea caused by strains resistant to first line drugs and also in apenicitin allergic patient.
Dosage: If no alternative treatement. 40mg per kg
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity .
Side-effects: Areductin in urine ouput, pain at injection site, nausea, chills, fevere, dizziness insomnia, urticaria decrease in heamoglobin.
Special Precaution: Anaphylaxi may occur. The diluent provided contain benzyl alcohol which has been associated with fatal gasping syndrome in infants. Safely in children has not been established
Drug Interaction: Botilinum toxin, lithium.
