It is a novel potent gastroprokinetic drug which is a selective serotonin 5-HT4 agonist. it exerts a more profound effect on moror functions involved in the protection against abnormal gastroesophageal reflux. It has no dopamine D2-receptor antagonist action and does not have central action but in contrast, it does not stimulate colonic motor hyperactivitiy.
INDICATIONS: Gastrointestinal symptoms associated with chronic gastritis.
DOSAGE: Adults: 15 mg of mosapride citrate daily in 3 divided doses before or after meals.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Elderly patients, pregnancy, Lactation safety of this drug is not been established in children.
SIDE-EFFECTS: Diarrhea, dry mouth, malaise abdominal pain, increased GOT, GPT, ALP, GTP, palpitations dizziness, light-headedness, eosinophilia, and increased triglyceride.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Atorpine sulphate, butylcoporamine bromide, anticholinergic agents.
