Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor drug. It rapidly absorbed after oral administration. The drug is subject low first pass hepatic extraction, displaying an estimated absolute oral bioavailiablity of 73 %.
It is being excreted as urinary metabolites; the reminder is exerted in the feaces and orginates primarily from biliary secretion, it is more stable than omeprazole.
INDICATIONS: Duodenal and gastric ulcer.
INDICATAIONS: Moderate and severe reflux oesophagitis Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to the drug.
SAFETY PROFILE: It should not given to children below 12 years, use in pregnancy it potential benefit outweigh the potential risk.
ADVERSE EFFECTS: Diarrhoea, dizziness, pruitus, GI infections
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Low affinity for cytochrome p-450 enzymes.
DOSAGE: 40 mg once daily for 2-8 weeks.
