ATROPINE: Topical instillation of atropine causes madras’s, abolition of light reflex and cyclopedia lasing 7-10 dyes. The colliery muscles recover some what earlier than sphincter papillae. This results in photophobia and blurring of near vision. The intra ocular tension lends to rise. Especially in narrow angle glaucoma; conventional systemic dose produce minor ocular effects.

Indications : Long acting mediate & cyclopedia for use in ileitis & during refection. Iritic, iridocysitis, chordates.

Dosage : 1-2 drops to be instilled in each eye. Point for use at night.

Contra-indications : Narrow iridocorneal angle may precipitate acute congestive glaucoma.

Side effects : Dilated pupil, photophobia, bluing of near vision, palpitation.
