LEVOBUNOLOL: :Levobunolo is a nonselective beta andrenoceptor antagonist with no significant local anesthetic or intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. It is similar to timely in efficacy, potency and safety. Levobunolol decreases IOP with little or no effect on papillary size or accommodation in contrast to the mitosis which cholinergic agents are known to produce.
Indications : Indicated for lowering intraocular pressure in chronic open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Dosge : Starting dose : 1 to 2 drop in affected eye once a day.
Severe glaucoma: 1 to 2 drops tiwce a day.
Special Precaution :Pregnancy, nursing mothers and pediatric use. In patients with non-allergic bronchospam, insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents gently receiving insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents.
Side effects : Transient ocular brining and stinging decrease imp heart rate and blood pressure, urticariatis purities, decreased corneal sensitivity. Iridocyclitis headache, transient ataxia dizziness & lethargy.
Drug interactions : Oral beta blockers, concomitant therapy with levobunolo and epinephrine catecholamine depleting drugs.
