HOMATROPINE: : It is 10 times less potent than atropine. Instilled in eye, it acts in 45-60 mines; madras’s lasts 1-3 days while accommodation recovers in 1 day. It is the most commonly used mediate in adults, but often produces unsatisfactory cyclopedia in children who have high ciliary’s muscle tone.
Indications : For testing error of refraction. Mydriactic & cyclopedia with more repaid onset of action & less mediate effect than atropine soleplate.
Dosage : 1-2 drops to be instilled into each eye.
Contra-indications : Eldely. hypermetroia tendency for glaucodma, sallow anterior chamber, narrow angle glaucoma.
Special Preacution : Check intra-ocular pressure before use.
Side effects : Blurring of near vision photophobia, palpitation, dilatiion of puil.
Drug Interaction : Antagonise antiglaucoma and miotic actions of ophthalamic anticholinesterase, carbchol pilcarpine solutions
