SULPHACETAMIDE SODIUM : It is a highly soluble compound yielding neutral solution. It is only mildly irritating to the eye in concentrations upto 30%. It is used topically for ocular infections due to susceptible bacteria & chlamydia, including ophthalmia neonatorum caused by Ch. oculogenit alis. It attains high concentration in anterior segment and aqueous humour after topical instillation.
Indications : Trochoma, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, iritis, corneal ulcer, ophthalmic neonatorum, injury of eyes, prophylaxis of ocular infections after injuries or burns. Pre & post operative surgery.
Dosage : 1-2 drops 3-4 times daily.
Contra-indications : Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions : Discontinue if irritation persists. Donot touch dropper tip as it may contaminate the soln. Use withinone month after opening the container.
