ACYCLOVIR
It has antiviral activity (details in chapter of antibiotics under subheading of Antiviral)
Indications: Ophthalmic ointment is useful for the treatment of keratitis caused by Herper simplex virus.
Admn. : 1 cm ribbon of ointment should be placed inside the lower conjunctival sac 5 times a day.
Contra indications: Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions: Don’t use skin ointment for ophthalmic purpose. Pregnancy, lactation.
Side-effects: Transient mild stinging may occur in eyes.
