It is an angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist. Irbesartan blockes the of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptors found in vascular smooth muscle, adrenal gland, etc.

INDICATIONS: Mild to moderate hypertension, either alone or in combination with other anti hypertensive agents.

DOSAGE: Adults: 150 mg once daily. May be increased respiratory tract infection.
