Metoprolol

It Is A Cardioselective B1 Receptor Blocker. It Is Equipotnet To Propranolol But There Is Less Risk Of Precipitating Bronchial Ashtma. In Large Doses, It Behaves Like Propranolol. It Is Preferred In Copd And Diabetes Melliutus Over Propranolol.

Indications: Essential Hypertension, Angina Pectoris, Post M.I.

Contrindications: Bradycardia, Cardiogenic Shock, A.V. Block, C.H.Fs

Safety Profile: Copd, Alongwith Drugs Like Verapamil Redced Cardiac Reserve,
Paediatrics: Reduced Dose
Lactation: Secreted In Breast Milk. Use Only If Clearly Indicated.

Adverse Effects: Bradycardia, Headache, Skin Rashes, Nightmares.

Drug Interactions: Cimetidine Potentiates The Effect Of Metoprolol, Bioavailability Increases With Food. Increased Negative Inotropic Effect With Other Cardiodepressants.

Dosage: Adults 100-200 Mg In Two Divided Doses. Children 1-5 Mg/Kg In Two Divided Doses.
