It is a new quinazoline derivatives with a selective inhibition of the a1 subtype of a adrenergic receptors. The antihypertensive acion is produced by a reduction in the smooth muscle tone of peripheral vascular beds leading to a decrease in the total peripheral resistance without significant effects on the cardiac output or heart rate.

INDICATIONS: BPH: Hypertension.

DOSAGE: 1 mg once a day.

Max. Dose: BPH: 16 mg once a day.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity.

SPECIAL PRECAUTION: Considering the severe hypotension with first dose, the dose should be low. Prostatic cancer & BPH cause similar symptoms, liver disease & those receiving antihypertensives.

Paediatric: Safety not established.

Pregnancy: Safety has not been established.

Lactation: Safety not established.

SIDE-EFFECTS: BPH: chest pain, fatigue, headache, influenza-like symptoms, pain, hypotension, palpitation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, edema, dizziness, dry mouth, somnolence, dyspnea, respiratory, disorders, vision abnormalities, impotence, urinary tract infection, increased sweating, anxiety, insomnia.
