It is an alph-1 adenoceptor antagonist used in treatment of hypertension. It reduces serum cholesterol LDL & VLDL cholesterol levels.
INDICATIONS: Mild to moderate hypertension, Symptomatic relief of urinary obstruction in patients with BPH.
DOSAGE: 1 mg at bed time, increased every week if required.
Maintenance dose: 2-10 mg per day. Max. 20 mg/day.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity.
SIDE EFFECTS: Hpotension, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, blurred vision and oedema.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Beta blockers, diuretics & calcium channel blockers may increases the incidence of orthstatic hypotension.
