Intravenous injection causes intma inflammation and thrombus formation. This usually occludes the injected vein. Subsequent formation of finrous tissue results in partial or complete vein obliteration.
INDICATIONS: Treatment of small, uncomplicated varicose veins of the lower extremities that show simple dilation with competent valves. Haemangioma, ganglionoma, oesophageal varices, hydrocele.
PRECAUTIONS: Sodium tetradecyl sulfate injection should be administered only by a physician familiar with proper injection technique. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis have been reported that have led to death. Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients have not been established.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: The physician must use judgments and evaluate any patient taking antiovulatory drugs prior to initiating treatment with sodium tetradecyl sulfate. Heparin should not be included in the same syringe as sodium tetradecyl sulfate since the two are incompatible.
