It is an antihistamine having additional anticolinergic, anti-5 HT, sedative and vasodilator properties. It has been found to modulate calcium fluxes and attenuates vasoconstrictor action of many endogenous substances, probably by its action on calcium movement.
INIDACTIONS: Improve blood flow to labyrinth and brain stem. Vertigo, tinnitus, meniere’s disease, loss of memory, sickness, cerebrovascular & peripheral vascular disorders.
DOSAGE: Adults: 25-75 mg thrice daily.
Children: not recommended.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Alcohol, C.N.S. depressants.
SIDE-EFFECTS: Sedation, G.I. upset, rash, drowsiness.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: CNS depressant effect enhanced with alcohol, action potentiated by domperidone.
