It is a long acting ACE-inhibitor antihypertensive drug. It has a beneficial effect on glucose metabolism in type-II diabetes mellitus. It has a lower incidence of cough as compared to other ACE-inhibitors. It can be used in combination with a diuretic and/or beta-blocker or calcium channel blocker to achieve additive therapeutic effect.
INDICATIONS: Mild to moderate hypertension. Hypertension or diabetic nephropathy in patient with type-II diabetes mellitus.
DOSAGE: Administered orally once a day.
Adult: Starting dose is 5mg. if desired therapeutic results can not be achieved within 3-weeks, increase the dose to 10mg. maximum dose is 20mg.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Renal impairment, Hepatic impairment. As with other ACE inhibitors.
SIDE-EFFECTS: Mild and transient cough, tachycardia, bronchitis, headache, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, were observed on clinical trails.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Same as observed with other ACE-inhibitors.
