When you have selected your item you can see your shopping cart items, quantity and total. You can change the quantity by entering the number of quantity you want. Then press 'Update' to change the quantity required.

DEXAMETHASONE: Very potent and highly selective glucocorticoid. Long acting. Causes marked. pituitary-adrenal suppression, but retention and hypertension are not a problem. It meets any emergency with intensified protency and. strikingly rapid corticosteroid action, thus ensuring speedy reversal of the situation in the patients favor.

Indication: Allergic reaction pre & post-operatively. Acute stage of infections. poisoning, adernocortical insufficiency. Shock, acute dermatological disorders, rheumatic disorders, ophthalmologic disorders.

Dosage: 4-20 mg/day i.v. infusion or i.m. 0.55 mg/day orally.

Contra-indication: Renal failure, diabetes mellitus, psychosis, osteoporosis. Pregnancy CHF, tuberculosis & other systemic infections

Special Precautions: May reduce the response of the pituitary-adrenal axis to stress. Glaucma, epilepsy, hypertension. Liver dysfunction. Elderly.

Side-effects: Cushing’s habitus (rounded face, narrow mout). Fragile skin, bruising, telengiectasis, hirsutism. Cutaneous atrophy occurs with topical use. Hyperglycaemia, glycosuria, muscular weakness. Delayed heating of wounds & surgical incisions.

Drug Interaction: Phenytoin, phenobarb, ephedrine and rifampicin reduce efficacy G.I. absorption reduced by megnesium trisilicate. Salicylates efficacy reduced.
