AMPICILLIN WITH SULBACTAM SODIUM:Sulfate sodium is irreversible betalactamse inhibitor thus it increases the activity of ampicillin against bets lantanas producing organisms. Spectrum of activity of this combination of ampicillin with sulfate sodium producing strains of gram-positive Bacteria staphylococcus aurous, staphylococcus epidermidis staphylococcus saprophytic us and other strain Streptococcus facials, streptococcus pneumonia, streptococcus progenies, streptococcus viridians.
Gram-negative bacteria : Beta-lactase and non beta-lactase producing strains of Heamonhilus influenza, Baranhamella Catarrhal is, Escherichia Coli, Nisei gonorrhea, Proteus mirabilis and other strains of Kelbsiella species, Proteus Vulgarism, Providence ratter, Providence started, Marginalia organic.
Anaerobes: Clostridium species, Petcocks species, Peptostreptococcus pieces, Bactericides species including B fragile.
Indications : Pre, intra and post operative use for the prevention and treatment of surgical infections, Surgical prophylaxis, intra-abdominal infectons,Post-surgical infections, suture infections, Obstetrics and gynecological infections Bone and joint infections, Respiratory tract infections, Gonorrhea, Skin & soft tissue infections, infections in immunocompromised patients.
Dosage: I.V. slow injection over or at least 10-15 mines, or in greater dilutions with 50-100 ml of a compatible diluents as an intravenous infusion over 15-30 mines. It can be administered by deep intra muscular injection. 1.5gm (0.5 gm Silbactam (as sod), 1gm Ampicillin (as sod) to 3gm (1 gm Sulfate (as sod), 2 gm Ampicillin (as sod) every 6 hrs. Max 4gm per day.
Contra-indications: Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions: Pregnancy, Nursing mother, not in infants and children under age of 12, concurrent use with haloperidol.
Side-effects: Diarrhea, rash, Gastritis, steatites, black hairy tongue, enter colitis, pseudomem-branous colitis, nausea, vomiting, urinary, erythematic multiform, agranulocytosis.
