IMIPENEM WTH CILASTATIN: Impend/ celestial belongs to carbapenem group carbapenem group. It is effective in patients with nosocomial infections, since they have an extremely wide antibacterial spectrum and strong activity against gram-positive and negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including many resistant pathogens.
Indications: Power respiratory tract infections, Urinary tract infections, intrrbdominla infections, Gynecological infections, Bacterial septicemia, Bone and joint infections, Skin and skin structure infection Endocarditic, Poymicrobial infections.
Dosage: 250-500mg given IV over 40 to 60 monocots. It is recommended that the maximum total dosage should not exceed 50mg/dg/day or 4.0g/day
Contraindications: Imipenem-cliastain is contraindicated in patients who have show hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions: Should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Impanel has been detected in human milk. If the use of impanel is deemed essential. The patient should stop nursing. Clinical data are insufficient to recommend the use of PRIMAXIN for children under 3 months of age or pediatric patients with impaired renal functions (serum cretonne>2mg/dl). If focal tremors, cyclones, or seizure occur, patients should be elevated neurologically and placed on anticonvulsant therapy if not already instituted, if CNS symptoms continue, the dosage of impanel should be decreased or discontinued.
Drug Interactions: Generalized seizures have been reported in patients who received gancicilovir and impanel IV. These medicines should not be used concomitantly unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Decreased serum levels or valorous acid with co administration of careened antibiotics have been reported murdering post- marketing and in same cases breakthrough seizures levels of valorous acid should be considered if impanel is to be co administered with valorous acid.
Side effects: Impanel is generally weal tolerated. In controlled clinical studies, it was found to be tolerated as well as coastline, cephalothin, and cofotaxime. The most common adverse reactions have been local reactions.
