Chlorzoxazone
It is an centrally acting muscle relaxant and used for painful musculoskeletal disorders. It act on spinal cord and subcortical areas of brain, where it in inhibits multisynaptic areas involved in producing skeletal spasm. It has sedative effect also.
INDICATIONS : Skeletal muscle spasm.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity, pregnancy.
SAFETY PROFILE : Discontinue if symptoms of liver dysfunction occurs.
ADVERSE EFFECTS : Gastro-intestinal irritation, headache, lethargy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: CNS effects enhanced by other CNS depressants such as alcohol.
DOSAGE : Adults : 250-750 mg., 3-4 times daily.
Child : 125-500mg t.i.d or q.i.d.
