Etoricoxib

Etoricoxib is a selective and powerful cycloxygenase (Cox-2) inhibitor. It is well absorbed when administered orally. It exhibits anti-inflammatory analgesic, antipyretic activities inhibiting gastric prostaglandin synthesis or affecting platelet function when given in therapeutic doses.

INDICATIONS : Osteo-arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis acute gouty arthritis dental pain.

CONTRAINDICATIONS : Hypersensitivity.

SAFETY PROFILE : Renal disease, H/o asthmatic attacks, urticaria.

ADVERSE EFFECTS : Nausea, headache, dyspepsia flu-like disease, abdominal pain, GI upset severe Skin rashes.

DRUG INTERACTIONS : Warfarin and the similar agents enhance the prothrombin time when given concomitantly. Higher dose of etoricoxib may cause methotrexate toxicity when administration concomitantly. Rifampicin, ACE inhibitor, Lithium.

DOSAGE: Adults : Osteoarthritis : 60mg once daily Rheumatoid Arthritis : 90mg once daily Acute gouty Arthritis : 120mg once daily, Children and Adolescents : Below 16 years : Not recommended.
