Thiocolchicoside
It is a semi-synthetic sulphurated derivative of colchicoside. It is acting as a GABA-A receptor antagonist with myorelaxant pharmacological activity. In vivo it was also found to possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities after oral, Subcutaneous, I.M. and intraperitoneal administration.
INDICATIONS : As an adjuvant treatment in painful spasm associated with degenerative vertebral disorders, dorsal pain, lowback pain, torticollis, traumatological and neurlogical disorders.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pregnancy, Lactation, and Hypersensitivity to thiocolchicoside.
SAFETY PROFILE : It is not recommended for use in children and reduced dose recommended in case of diarrhoea.
ADVERSE EFFECTS: Nausea, Vomiting, diarrhoea, gastralgia, hypotention, drowsiness, cutaneous allergic reaction and rarely anaphylactic reaction.
DRUG INTERACTIONS : Not Known
DOSAGE : Two capsules (4mg each) B.I.D. for 7 days for adults.
