Velethamate
It is anticholinergic and smooth muscle relax-ant. Useful mainly in delayed dilation of cervix during delivery.
INDICATIONS : Smooth muscle spasm, especially in delayed dilation of cervix, Symptomatic treatment of visceral spasms, painful spasms of genito urinary.
CONTRAINDICATIONS : Glaucoma, ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, paralytic ileus, cardiac insufficiency, Severe hypertension.
SAFETY PROFILE : CM disease, thyrotoxicosis, hypertension.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Potentiated by other antispasmbdics, antihistamines, phenothiazine, dysopyramide, and quinidine.
DOSAGE: When the os uteri has dilated to about 2-4 cm. 8mg. by deep IM. K can be repeated after 20 min. if required.
