Escitalopram
It is a derivative of citalopram which inhibit CNS neuronal re uptake of serotonin and potentiates serotonergic activity.
Indications: Treatment of major depressive disorders.
Contradictions: Hypersensitivity to escitalopram or citalopram.
Safety Profile: Caution required in patient with history of mania or seizure disorders. Operating machinery or driving is not recommended.
Adverse Effects: Insomnia, diarrhea, impotence, confusion.
Drug Interactions: Concomitant administration with MAOI’s is may leads to serious reactions.
Dosage: 10mg daily Max. 20 mg once a day.
