It is a broad spectrum antimycotic agent, effective against dermatophytes, yeasts, actinomycets, moulds and other fungi. Drug has a broader spectrum of activity against bacteria compared to otherantifungal drugs. The primary site of action of Ciclopirox olamine appears to be the cell membrane, where it causes leakeage of potassium ions and other intracellular materials.
INDICATIONS: Dermatophytoses or candida skin infections. Vulvo vaginal candidiasis.
DOSAGE: Apply 2-3 times daily for 1-4 wks.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Not for ophthalmic use.
SIDE-EFFECTS: Irritation, redness, pain, burning or itching.
