DIPHTHERIA AND TETANUS VACCINE: It is a sterile cloudy, uniform suspension of diphtheria & tetanus toxoids adsorbed on aluminium phosphate &
Indications: - Primary immunization of infants, at or above the age of two months, and of pre-school children against diphtheria & tetanus.
Dosages: 3 i.m. injections of 0.5 ml be admn. with an interval of 4-8 wks between doses. A fourth injection of 0.5 ml should be admn. i.m. approximately one year after initial injection.
Conlra-Indicalions Infants or children with fever or other evidence of acute illness. Defer during an outbreak of poliomyelitis. Should not be admn. to older children (after 6 yrs.) or to adults because of the danger of reactions to diphtheria.
Special Precaution Anaphylactic or acute hypersensitivity reaction. Use sterile disposable unit.
Side-effects : Mild local reactions consisting of pain, erythema, tenderness and induration at the injection site. Mild to moderate transient fever and irritability.
