ETHACRIDINE LACTATE (EMCREDIL): It is a derivate of alcidine dye with properties to induce uterine contractions besides the antibacterial properties of acridines.
Indications : Inductioon of second trimester abortion (M.T.P)
Dosage: As extra-aminiotic infusion :100ml injected slowly over 10 mins. through catheter, then clamped. 50ml of it can be injected 4 hrs later. Intravenous exytocin or sparteine suphate should be given concurrently.
Contra indications: Hypersensitivity, pregnancy.
Special precautions: History of previous surgery on the uterus or cervix. Nonndilating cervix should be reviewed before supplemeting oxytocic agents.
Drug Interactions: Enhanced activity by alkaline solutions.
